The RFK National Resource Center has released a relatively short and very readable document summarizing some of the key steps and benchmarks in how to build on past work and current research to implement a developmental approach in working with youth and families in the juvenile justice system.  Titled Translating the Science of Adolescent Development to Sustainable Best Practice, the brief includes ideas about family engagement, dealing with trauma, how to think about accountability without criminalizing youth, and positive youth development.  The brief provides an understandable and well-founded framework for implementing reforms and supporting what works.
