Black Disparities in Youth Incarceration

According to recently released data collected by the Department of Justice in October 2015, Wisconsin is one of six states where African American youth are at least 10 times as likely to be held in placement as are white youth.  Nationally, Black youth were more than five times as likely to be detained or committed compared to white youth.  A key step in improving our Youth Justice system in Wisconsin is recognizing where changes need to be made. The following article by The Sentencing Project helps to shed some light on this important issue.  Black-Disparities-in-Youth-Incarceration
